Award Ceremony for Badminton & Volleyball Tournaments, 2013

On last Saturday SCMCO organized First Annual Award Ceremony for Badminton & Volleyball tournaments, 2013. It was held at Islamic Society of Orange County. Board Member of Islamic Shura Council of Southern California Brother Kalim Farooqi was a Chief guest. SCMCO member Arif Hyder opened the program with a heart-felt welcome to everyone.

SCMCO member Ayaz Kallem Ullah recited the QURANIC Surah with translation.

SCMCO Chairperson Dawar Naqvi thanked to everyone for their support during his short speech. He said SCMCO’s mission was to organize activities and mobilize the community in such a manner in order to establish brother/sisterhood and unity between different Communities. He gave short history of SCMCO events. He shared SCMCO’s goal is to have Muslim Youth and Family Culture Center.

Chief Guest Board Member of Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, Kalim Farooqi expressed his sentiments and importance of joint masjid activities by SCMCO for the community. He said this was duty of Muslim to be fit and participate in the sports events. He gave examples of Prophet (PBUH) and his companions. He said Shura Council endorsed activities of SCMCO. He pointed out importance of unity. He briefly explained some activities of Islamic Shura Council of Southern California.

Prizes were presented by chief guest Kalim Farooqi, and SCMCO members Ayaz Kallemullah, Sister Asmaa S.Aly, Amjad Naqvi, Arif Hyder and SCMCO Chairperson Dawar Naqvi.

The event was concluded by DUAA.

The first Joint Masjid Badminton Tournament was held on June 22^nd at San Gabriel Valley Badminton Club. Almost 70 players from different masjid participated in the tournament. The second Joint Masjid Volleyball Tournament was held on Sept 22^nd at American Sports Center. Almost 120 players from different masajid participated in the Volleyball Tournament.
